About Torotrak
Torotrak is the world's foremost developer of full-toroidal traction drive technology. The company conducts research and develops applications in the field of variable drive transmissions for customers in the commercial vehicle, automotive, off-highway and outdoor power equipment markets. Torotrak’s continuously variable transmissions (CVT), infinitely variable transmissions (IVT) and variable ratio drive units reduce energy consumption and harmful emissions, whilst also delivering outstanding levels of control, functionality and performance.
The company's traction drive technology is used in vehicle main drive transmissions, flywheel-based mechanical hybrids and in a wide range of auxiliary drive applications. Its customers are widely located across Europe, North America, India and Japan, and include major vehicle makers and tier-1 transmission manufacturers.
With the company’s roots dating back to the 1970s, Torotrak was formed in 1998 as a subsidiary of the British Technology Group, and was floated on the London Stock Exchange ten years later. Torotrak is based in Leyland, UK.

Rotrex A/S is a technology driven company focused on providing leading solutions for the forced induction systems market. The company’s patented traction drive enables the Rotrex centrifugal supercharger to achieve superior efficiency, reduced emissions, and improved transient response. This allows smaller size, lower noise and less weight than that of competing products for applications within downsized engines, hybrid powertrains, fuel cell applications, performance vehicles and a multitude of additional applications.
Rotrex dates back to the early 1970s when Anders P. Kolstrup - today Technical Director - being a passionate race driver, was continuously looking for improvements in engine development and performance. In 1996 the first patent was issued, followed by a string of international patents granted.
Today Rotrex develops, manufactures and markets superchargers based on patented traction technology for a wide range of companies and institutions within the fields of industry, research, automobile OEM, OES and aftermarket companies worldwide. The company’s ambition is to keep developing leading forced induction solutions through constant innovation and based on the very highest quality standards.
